Ashtavinayak Yatra: Correct Order of Darshan, Route and How Many Days
Updated 11 October 2026
Quick answer: the traditional Ashtavinayak yatra starts at Morgaon, covers the other seven temples in a fixed order, and ends with a second darshan at Morgaon. Most people finish it in 2 to 3 days from Pune.
The 8 temples in traditional order
- Moreshwar, Morgaon (starting point)
- Siddhivinayak, Siddhatek
- Ballaleshwar, Pali
- Varadvinayak, Mahad
- Chintamani, Theur
- Girijatmaj, Lenyadri
- Vighnahar, Ozar
- Mahaganapati, Ranjangaon
After Ranjangaon, devotees traditionally return to Morgaon to complete the circuit. Morgaon is about 65 km from Pune.
How many days should you plan?
Two days is possible if you start early and keep pace, but three days is far more comfortable for families and senior citizens, with an overnight stop near Pali/Mahad or Siddhatek. Lenyadri involves a long climb of stone steps, so plan that darshan for the cooler part of the day.
Tips
- Start early. Temple queues are shortest in the morning, and Tuesdays, Sankashti Chaturthi and Chaturthi days are very crowded.
- Check each temple's darshan timings before you leave, as they can change on festival days.
- Wear light, comfortable footwear. Some temples need you to remove shoes far from the entrance.
- A cab with a driver who knows the route saves a lot of time, because the temples are spread across Pune, Raigad and Ahmednagar districts.
