Day-wise Itinerary
Day 1: OPTION – 1 DAY TRIP
5:30 AM: Pickup from Pune. Keep water, a light snack and a power bank handy, and rest on the first stretch.
7:30 AM: Breakfast stop on the Expressway near Lonavala or Khalapur. Poha, idli or paratha with tea is enough.
9:30 AM: Reach South Mumbai. Start at the Gateway of India while the crowd is still thin. Walk to the waterfront, see the Taj Mahal Palace from the outside and watch the ferries.
11:00 AM: Marine Drive. Take a short drive or walk along the promenade. It is lovely at any hour, though sunset is the best.
12:30 PM: Haji Ali Dargah. Walk the causeway if the tide allows, dress modestly and remove footwear as required. If the tide is high, view from the shore.
2:00 PM: Lunch at a simple restaurant, with local snacks such as vada pav or a thali.
3:30 PM: Siddhivinayak Temple in Prabhadevi. Weekday afternoons are calmer. Allow about an hour, including the queue.
5:00 PM: Optional short stop at the Bandra-Worli Sea Link viewpoint, or start the return early to beat the evening traffic.
6:30 PM: Start the return drive to Pune, with a tea stop on the Expressway.
10:00 PM: Expected arrival in Pune, depending on traffic.
Note: Siddhivinayak is extremely crowded on Tuesdays. We plan around it. Mumbai traffic is unpredictable, so keep a buffer.

Know Before You Go
- Carry a valid government photo ID (Aadhaar/PAN/Passport/DL) for every traveller — hotels and some checkpoints ask for it.
- Pack according to Maharashtra's season — check the local weather a few days before departure and pack accordingly.
- Keep your booking voucher and driver/vehicle details handy (sent by Tripleads after confirmation).
- Please be ready at the pickup point 10–15 minutes before the scheduled time to keep the itinerary on track.
- Carry some cash for personal expenses, tips and anything not covered under Inclusions — card/UPI acceptance can be patchy in remote areas.
- Mobile network can be weak in ghats, valleys and remote stretches of the route — inform family of your rough schedule in advance.
- This is a pilgrimage route — dress modestly at temples, and expect queues during festival dates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How far is Mumbai from Pune by road?
Mumbai is about 150 km from Pune. The drive takes roughly three to three and a half hours on the Mumbai Pune Expressway, depending on traffic.
Q2. Is one day enough for a Mumbai sightseeing trip?
It is enough for a first look at the main sights, such as Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Haji Ali and Siddhivinayak. For Elephanta Caves and more of the heritage area, a 2 day trip is better.
Q3. What is the best time to visit Mumbai?
November to February is the most comfortable. The monsoon brings heavy rain, waterlogging and delays, and ferries may be limited. Summers are hot and humid.
Q4. Which day is Elephanta Caves closed?
Elephanta is closed on Mondays. Ferries also run on a limited schedule in the monsoon, so we confirm the current plan when your trip is finalised.
Q5. What are Siddhivinayak Temple timings, and which day is best?
The temple opens in the early morning and stays open until late at night. Weekday mornings are much calmer, and Tuesdays and festival days are extremely crowded. We confirm timings and rules before your trip.
Q6. Can we walk to Haji Ali Dargah at any time?
The causeway is easiest at low tide, and the path can be partly covered at high tide. We check the tide chart and plan the visit accordingly.
Q7. Is it better to hire a cab for Mumbai sightseeing?
Yes, if you are visiting from Pune with a group or family. A private cab saves time between spread-out sights, helps with parking and removes the stress of finding transport at each stop.
