- Keep your booking voucher and driver/vehicle details handy (sent by Tripleads after confirmation).
- Please be ready at the pickup point 10–15 minutes before the scheduled time to keep the itinerary on track.
- Carry some cash for personal expenses, tips and anything not covered under Inclusions — card/UPI acceptance can be patchy in remote areas.

- Hill/high-altitude routes can cause motion sickness or breathlessness — carry basic medication and inform the driver if you need frequent stops.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is the distance from Mumbai to Pandharpur by road, and how long does the drive take?
Pandharpur is about 350 to 400 km from Mumbai, and the drive normally takes seven to eight hours with stops, usually via Pune, Jejuri or Indapur. An early start brings you in by afternoon.
Q2. What is the difference between Mukh darshan and Pad darshan at Pandharpur Vitthal Temple
In the common usage, Mukh darshan is a view of the deity from a distance and is usually quicker, while Pad darshan means going up to touch the feet and often involves a longer wait. The arrangements are set by the temple committee and can change, so we confirm the current system before your trip.
Q3. How can I book Pandharpur Vitthal darshan online, and is it needed?
The temple committee has offered online darshan booking from time to time, subject to availability and the day. It is not always needed on quiet weekdays, but it helps on busy dates. We guide you on the current process when we finalise your trip.
Q4. How long does Vitthal darshan at Pandharpur take on Ekadashi?
On Ashadhi and Kartiki Ekadashi, the wait can stretch to many hours, sometimes much more, because of the very large crowds. If your trip falls on or near these dates, plan for a long queue, and book your stay and cab well in advance.
Q5. What is the best time to visit Pandharpur, and which days should I avoid?
October to February is comfortable, and a weekday morning is the calmest. Avoid Ekadashi and the four Wari seasons if you want a quiet darshan. If you want the Wari atmosphere, plan early and expect heavy traffic.
Q6. Where can we stay in Pandharpur, and is it better to stay near the temple
Pandharpur has dharmashalas, devotee lodges and hotels. A stay near the temple saves walking, especially with elders, but rooms fill fast on Ekadashi days. Share your budget and group size and we will suggest options.
Q7. Is a cab better than a train or bus for a Mumbai to Pandharpur trip, and what does the package include
A cab suits families and elders, since direct trains from Mumbai are limited and the temple area needs local transport. It also lets you add Jejuri, Tuljapur and Akkalkot easily. The price includes a private AC cab, driver, fuel, tolls and parking as per the plan, and sightseeing guidance. Stay, meals, puja items, entry tickets, guide charges and personal expenses are extra.

Mumbai To Pandharpur Trip — Travel Guide
Planning a Mumbai to Pandharpur Trip? A Practical Guide for 2, 3 and 4 Days
If you have searched “Mumbai to Pandharpur trip” and found only bus timings and scattered darshan tips, this guide is for you. Pandharpur is one of the most important pilgrimage towns in Maharashtra, and a visit can feel very different depending on the day. A quiet weekday morning and an Ekadashi night are almost different places. As a travel planner at Trip Leads, I have written this guide to help you plan with confidence.
What is Pandharpur?
Pandharpur is a town in Solapur district, on the bank of the Chandrabhaga river, also called the Bhima. It is the seat of Lord Vitthal, worshipped by the Warkari sampradaya. According to the tradition, the deity came to the town for his devotee Pundalik and stands on a brick. Every year, palkhis from different towns, including Dehu and Alandi, walk to Pandharpur for Ashadhi Ekadashi, and smaller Wari gatherings happen in other seasons. Understanding even this much makes your visit more meaningful.
The route and the distance
Pandharpur is about 350 to 400 km from Mumbai, and the drive normally takes seven to eight hours with stops. A common route goes along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway to Pune, then via Saswad and Jejuri, through Phaltan and Natepute, and into Pandharpur. Another route runs via the Pune-Solapur highway through Indapur and Akluj. We choose the route by traffic and season. An early start around 5:30 AM brings you in by mid-afternoon.
Option A: A 2 day, 1 night trip
Day 1 is the drive, a rest and an evening at the Chandrabhaga ghat. Day 2 starts with early darshan, and the return begins by late morning. It is a tiring plan, so I suggest it only for fit travellers.
Option B: A 3 day, 2 night trip
This is the plan I recommend. On Day 1, you stop at Jejuri for Khandoba darshan, then reach Pandharpur by evening. Day 2 gives you time for the Vitthal-Rukmini Temple, Pundalik Mandir, Vishnupad and a slow evening at the ghat. Day 3 is a calm return.
Option C: A 4 day, 3 night trip
After Pandharpur, you drive about three hours to Tuljapur for Tulja Bhavani, then to Akkalkot for Swami Samarth Maharaj, and on to Solapur for the Siddheshwar Temple and its lake. Day 4 is the return from Solapur, which is a shorter drive than from Akkalkot.
The places worth your time
Vitthal-Rukmini Temple: The main shrine of Pandharpur, with the black-stone idol of Vitthal and the nearby shrine of Rukmini. The queue and the darshan type change with the day.
Pundalik Mandir: A small temple on the river bank, dedicated to the devotee for whom Vitthal is said to have come.
Chandrabhaga Ghat: The river bank where pilgrims bathe, pray and sit in the evening. Water levels vary by season.
Vishnupad: A shrine with footprints associated with Lord Vishnu, on the river bank, a short drive from the temple.
Gopalpur: A quiet area near Pandharpur with a Krishna temple, a calm stop after the main darshan.
Sant Namdev Payari: The famous steps at the temple entrance, named after Sant Namdev. Pilgrims touch the steps before entering.
Khandoba Temple, Jejuri (Options B and C): The hilltop temple of Khandoba, known for its turmeric offering and the climb of steps to the main shrine.
Tulja Bhavani Temple, Tuljapur (Option C): One of the most important Shakti shrines in Maharashtra, and the family deity of many households. Very crowded during Navratri.
Swami Samarth Maharaj Mandir, Akkalkot (Option C): A devotional centre of the saint Swami Samarth, with a calm, orderly atmosphere.
Siddheshwar Temple, Solapur (Option C): A temple on a lake, linked with the Lingayat saint Siddharameshwar, with a pleasant, quiet setting.
Best time to visit Pandharpur
October to February is the most comfortable. Summer is hot, so plan darshan for the early morning. Monsoon is green, but heavy rain can slow the road. The four Wari seasons, Chaitra, Ashadhi, Kartiki and Magh, bring huge crowds, and Ashadhi is the largest. Weekday mornings outside these periods are the calmest. If you want the Wari atmosphere, plan well in advance, since stays and cabs fill early.
What to eat
Food around the temple is simple and vegetarian. Look for hot poha, sabudana khichdi, misal pav, bhajiyas with chai and a Maharashtrian thali. Pandharpur is also known for its sweet shops, and pilgrims often carry home prasad such as laddu, as per the temple’s rules. Many pilgrims carry light snacks for the queue. Tell us your food preference and we will suggest suitable places.
Where to stay
Pandharpur has dharmashalas, devotee lodges and hotels in every range. Rooms near the temple fill up fast on Ekadashi and Wari days, so book early. In Tuljapur, Akkalkot and Solapur, stays are available in most categories. Tell us your budget and group size, and we will suggest options.
Practical tips from the road
Start early, since the drive is long. Dress modestly, carry easy-to-remove footwear and keep bags minimal for the queue. Keep some cash for puja items and parking. Keep your belongings close in crowded lanes. For elders, we plan extra rest and keep the walking short.
Which option should you choose?
For a short weekend, choose the 2 day trip. For a comfortable plan with Jejuri and a full Pandharpur day, choose the 3 day trip. For the larger yatra with Tuljapur, Akkalkot and Solapur, choose the 4 day tour package. If you cannot decide, tell us your group size, ages and interests, and we will recommend what fits best.
