Know Before You Go

- Pack according to Maharashtra's season — check the local weather a few days before departure and pack accordingly.
- Keep your booking voucher and driver/vehicle details handy (sent by Tripleads after confirmation).
- Please be ready at the pickup point 10–15 minutes before the scheduled time to keep the itinerary on track.
- Carry some cash for personal expenses, tips and anything not covered under Inclusions — card/UPI acceptance can be patchy in remote areas.

- Hill/high-altitude routes can cause motion sickness or breathlessness — carry basic medication and inform the driver if you need frequent stops.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is the distance from Mumbai to Shani Shingnapur, and how long does it take?
Shani Shingnapur is roughly 300 to 340 km from Mumbai, depending on the route. The drive takes about six to seven hours, which is why most travellers combine it with Shirdi and stay overnight.
Q2. How far is Shani Shingnapur from Shirdi?
It is about 65 to 75 km from Shirdi, roughly one and a half to two hours by road. It can be done as a half day trip from Shirdi.
Q3. Can we do Mumbai, Shirdi and Shani Shingnapur in one day?
It is not practical. The total distance is over 600 km, and both temples can have long queues. We recommend at least 2 days, and 3 days for a comfortable plan
Q4. Which day is best for Shani Shingnapur darshan?
Saturdays and Amavasya are the most important days for Shani devotees, but they are also the most crowded. A weekday morning is much calmer. Tell us your preference and we will plan accordingly.
Q5. What are the Shani Shingnapur temple timings and darshan rules?
The temple generally opens early in the morning and stays open through the day, with aartis at fixed times, but timings and puja rules are set by the trust and can change on festival days. Please confirm the current guidance with your Trip Leads coordinator before travel.
Q6. Is it true that houses in Shingnapur village have no doors?
It is a well-known local tradition that many houses were built without doors, in the belief that Shani Dev protects the village. Some homes have changed with time, so what you see today can vary. We suggest you be respectful and ask before taking photos.
Q7. Is a cab better than a train or bus, and what does the package include?
A cab is far more practical, because Shani Shingnapur has no direct rail link and buses between the towns follow their own schedules. The price includes a private AC cab, driver, fuel, tolls, parking and sightseeing guidance. Stay, meals, puja items, aarti passes, guide charges and personal expenses depend on the option and your quotation.

Mumbai To Shirdi Shanishingnapur — Travel Guide
Planning a Mumbai to Shirdi Shani Shingnapur Trip? A Practical Guide for 2, 3 and 4 Days
If you have searched “Mumbai to Shirdi Shani Shingnapur trip” and found separate pages for each temple but no single clear plan, this guide is for you. These two places sit close together and are usually visited in one journey, but the distances, the crowd days and the road timing can catch first-time visitors off guard. As a travel planner at Trip Leads, I have written this guide to help you plan with confidence.
The route and the distance
Shirdi is roughly 240 to 250 km from Mumbai, and the drive takes about five to six hours. A common route goes through Thane, Kasara Ghat, Igatpuri and Nashik, and then on to Sinnar and Shirdi. Shani Shingnapur is about 65 to 75 km from Shirdi, roughly one and a half to two hours by road. The return from Shingnapur to Mumbai is around 300 to 340 km and takes six to seven hours, depending on the route and traffic. Added together, the full circuit is over 600 km, which is why I do not suggest a single day.
Why 1 day does not work
Many websites advertise a one-day Shirdi and Shani Shingnapur trip. In reality, you would spend close to twelve hours on the road, and the queues at both temples can be long. It leaves almost no time for darshan, and it is risky to drive back late at night. That is why this package begins at two days.
Option A: A 2 day, 1 night trip
Day 1 is the drive to Shirdi and an evening darshan. On Day 2 you take a morning darshan, drive to Shani Shingnapur, take darshan there and return to Mumbai. It works for fit travellers and for people with a fixed date, but Day 2 is a long day, so I suggest the 3 day plan if you can manage it.
Option B: A 3 day, 2 night trip
This is the plan I recommend. You stay two nights in Shirdi, so Day 2 can be used for the Shirdi sights in the morning and Shani Shingnapur in the afternoon, with a return to your Shirdi stay. Day 3 begins slowly and ends with a comfortable drive home. Senior citizens and families with children especially benefit.
Option C: A 4 day, 3 night trip
After Shingnapur, you drive to Trimbakeshwar for the Jyotirlinga darshan and stay overnight. On Day 4 you visit Panchavati in Nashik and return to Mumbai. It is a complete Maharashtra yatra, with each day at an easy pace.
The places worth your time
Samadhi Mandir, Shirdi: The main shrine of Sai Baba, with aartis through the day.
Dwarkamai: The old mosque where Sai Baba lived for years, with the sacred dhuni.
Chavadi: A small building linked with Baba’s alternate-night rest, and the Thursday procession.
Gurusthan: The neem tree place associated with Baba’s first appearance in Shirdi.
Lendi Baug: A calm garden that Baba used to visit, with a small shrine and a lamp that devotees say burns continuously.
Shani Shingnapur Temple: The open-air black stone deity, worshipped without a roof. Devotees offer oil and flowers as per the temple’s current rules.
Shingnapur village: Known for the tradition of homes without doors. Please be respectful when you walk around, and do not photograph people without asking.
Trimbakeshwar (Option C): One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, near the Brahmagiri hills and the origin of the Godavari river.
Panchavati, Nashik (Option C): The Kalaram Mandir and the places linked to the Ramayana tradition, on the Godavari ghats.
Darshan, aarti and queues at Shirdi
Shirdi has four aartis daily: Kakad (early morning), Madhyan (midday), Dhoop (evening) and Shej (night). Timings are decided by the Sansthan and change with the season and festivals. Online darshan and aarti passes are available and often shorten waiting. Mobile phones, cameras and large bags are generally not allowed in the darshan area.
Darshan at Shani Shingnapur
The deity is a black stone, worshipped in the open on a raised platform. Saturdays, Amavasya and Shani Jayanti are the busiest days, and queues can be several hours long. A weekday morning is calmer. Puja and offering rules are set by the trust and can change, so we confirm the current guidance on your date.
Best time to visit
October to February is the most comfortable. Summer is hot, and the monsoon can slow the ghat road. For Shirdi, avoid Thursdays and festival days if you want a quiet darshan. For Shingnapur, avoid Saturdays and Amavasya for the same reason, or plan extra time if you wish to go on those days for a vow.
What to eat
Simple vegetarian food is available in both towns, from hot poha and misal in the morning to full thalis at lunch and dinner. Many devotees take a meal at the Sansthan’s prasadalaya in Shirdi, subject to timings. Tell us your food preference and we will suggest suitable places.
Where to stay
Shirdi has a very wide range of stays, from devotee lodges to comfortable hotels, and it is the best base for this route. Rooms fill quickly on Thursdays and festival days, so book early. In Option C, we arrange a stay in Trimbakeshwar or Nashik. Tell us your budget and group size, and we will suggest options.
Practical tips from the road
Start early; the ghat section and the temple queues take more time than people expect.
Carry photo ID and keep bags light.
Wear easy-to-remove footwear and modest clothing.
Use only official counters for passes and puja items.
For elders, we plan extra rest and keep walking short.
Keep a small amount of cash for lockers, parking and puja items.
Which option should you choose?
For a quick yatra with a fixed date, choose the 2 day trip. For a comfortable plan, choose the 3 day trip. To add Trimbakeshwar and Nashik, choose the 4 day tour package. If you cannot decide, tell us your group size, ages and interests, and we will recommend what fits.
