Day-wise Itinerary
Day 1: OPTION – 1 DAY TRIP
Day 1: Mumbai to Shirdi and Back
4:00 AM – Pickup from Mumbai or Navi Mumbai. Carry a light jacket, photo ID and some snacks. The early hours on the highway are quiet, so you can rest in the cab.
7:30 AM – Breakfast near Nashik. Try hot misal or poha with tea, and use the stop to freshen up.
10:00 AM – Reach Shirdi. We park and guide you to the darshan entrance. Lockers or cloakrooms are available for phones and bags. Dress modestly and wear easy-to-remove footwear.
10:30 AM – Darshan queue and Samadhi Mandir. The wait depends entirely on the day, from under an hour to several hours. We keep the group together and advise on the best entrance and time. Take a moment at the samadhi, and do not rush the last minute.
1:00 PM – Lunch at the prasadalaya or a nearby restaurant, depending on timings and preferences.
2:00 PM – Short visit to Dwarkamai and Gurusthan if time allows, or buy prasad and photos from the official stalls.
3:00 PM – Start the return to Mumbai, with a tea break.
9:00 PM (approx.) – Reach Mumbai, depending on traffic and the time spent in the queue.
Trip ends in a single day. For the best experience, I suggest weekdays outside festivals.
Day 2: OPTION – 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT
Day 1: Mumbai to Shirdi and Evening Darshan
6:30 AM – Pickup from Mumbai or Navi Mumbai, and a short briefing on the plan.
9:30 AM – Breakfast near Nashik. Try hot poha, misal or sabudana khichdi.
1:30 PM – Reach Shirdi and check in at your stay. Freshen up and rest for an hour.

4:30 PM – Walk to the temple complex. Phones and large bags stay at the stay or in lockers. Join the queue for the evening darshan.
6:00 PM – Dhoop aarti, if the queue allows. Take time to sit quietly in the hall after darshan, since many devotees find the evening calm.
8:00 PM – Dinner at the prasadalaya or a restaurant. Rest early.
Overnight stay in Shirdi.
Day 2: Dwarkamai, Gurusthan, Lendi Baug and Return
5:00 AM – Optional Kakad aarti. It requires an early start and a pass or queue, so tell us on Day 1 if you wish to attend.
8:00 AM – Breakfast at your stay and check-out.
9:00 AM – Dwarkamai. See the place where Baba lived, with the sacred dhuni burning in the corner. Then walk to the Chavadi, the old building linked with his alternate-night rest.
10:30 AM – Gurusthan under the neem tree, and the nearby Khandoba Mandir, where Baba is said to have been welcomed with the words “Aao Sai”.
11:30 AM – Lendi Baug. A calm garden with a small shrine and a lamp that devotees say has burned continuously. A good place to rest and reflect.
12:30 PM – Lunch at the prasadalaya or a nearby restaurant.
1:30 PM – Start the return to Mumbai, with a tea break on the way.
6:30 PM to 8:00 PM – Reach Mumbai, depending on traffic.

Day 1: Same as Option B, Day 1. Overnight in Shirdi.
Day 2: Shirdi and Shani Shingnapur

8:30 AM – Breakfast and a visit to Dwarkamai, Chavadi and Gurusthan, as in Option B.
11:00 AM – Drive to Shani Shingnapur, about 70 km and one and a half to two hours away.
1:00 PM – Lunch near Shingnapur.
2:00 PM – Darshan at the Shani Shingnapur Temple. The deity is a black stone slab worshipped in the open, without a roof. Follow the temple’s rules for puja, and keep belongings light. Saturdays and Amavasya see large crowds.
4:00 PM – Start the return to Shirdi.
6:00 PM – Rest at your stay. Optional evening visit to the Samadhi Mandir.
8:00 PM – Dinner. Overnight stay in Shirdi.
Day 3: Trimbakeshwar and Return

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is the distance from Mumbai to Shirdi, and how long does it take by road?
Shirdi is roughly 240 to 250 km from Mumbai. The drive normally takes about five to six hours with stops, depending on traffic around Thane, Kasara Ghat and Nashik.
Q2. Can we do a Mumbai to Shirdi trip in one day?
Yes. Leave before sunrise, take darshan in the morning and return in the evening. But on Thursdays, weekends and festival days the queue can be long, so a weekday or a 2 day plan is more comfortable.
Q3. What is the best time to visit Shirdi?
October to February is the most comfortable. Thursdays, Guru Purnima, Ram Navami, Vijayadashami and long weekends are the busiest, while weekday mornings are calmer.
Q4. What are the Shirdi Sai Baba aarti and temple timings?
There are four aartis daily: Kakad (early morning), Madhyan (midday), Dhoop (evening) and Shej (night). Exact timings and darshan hours are fixed by the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan and change with the season and festivals, so please confirm the current schedule before travel.
Q5. Can we carry mobile phones and bags inside the Shirdi temple?
Mobile phones, cameras and large bags are generally not allowed in the darshan area, and lockers or cloakrooms are available. Rules can change, so we confirm the latest guidance before your trip.
Q6. Is it possible to visit Shani Shingnapur and Trimbakeshwar along with Shirdi?
Yes. Shani Shingnapur is about 70 km from Shirdi and Trimbakeshwar is on the way back to Mumbai. Both are included in our 3 day tour package.
Q7. Is a cab better than a train or bus, and what does the package include?
A cab is more practical, because it picks you up from your door and saves changes and waiting. The price includes a private AC cab, driver, fuel, tolls, parking and sightseeing guidance. Stay, meals, puja items, aarti passes, guide charges and personal expenses depend on the option and your quotation.

Mumbai To Shirdi Trip — Travel Guide
Planning a Mumbai to Shirdi Trip? A Practical Guide for 1, 2 and 3 Days
If you have searched “Mumbai to Shirdi trip” and found a pile of temple timings but no clear plan, this guide is for you. Shirdi is one of the most visited pilgrimage places in India, and the experience depends heavily on when you go and how you plan. As a travel planner at Trip Leads, I have written this guide so that your journey is calm, well-timed and meaningful.
What is Shirdi known for?
Shirdi is the town associated with Shri Sai Baba, a saint revered by devotees of many faiths. The Samadhi Mandir is the main shrine, and the other sacred places link directly to his life. The Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust manages the temple complex, the darshan queues and facilities such as the prasadalaya, where devotees can take simple meals.
The route and the distance
Shirdi is roughly 240 to 250 km from Mumbai, and the drive takes about five to six hours with stops. A common route goes through Thane, Kasara Ghat, Igatpuri and Nashik, and then on to Sinnar and Shirdi. The road is a mix of expressway-grade stretches and ghat sections, and traffic around Thane and Nashik can add time. We choose the best route and the best leaving time for your date.
Option A: A 1 day trip
It is possible, and many Mumbai devotees do it. You leave around 4:00 AM, reach Shirdi by mid-morning, take darshan, have lunch prasad and start back in the afternoon. You reach Mumbai in the evening. The challenge is the queue. On Thursdays, weekends and festival days, darshan may take several hours and your return starts late. I suggest this plan on a weekday, and for fit travellers.
Option B: A 2 day, 1 night trip
This plan removes the rush. You reach Shirdi in the afternoon, rest and take darshan in the evening, when many devotees find the temple most peaceful. The next morning, you can attend the early morning aarti if you wish, and then visit Dwarkamai, Chavadi, Gurusthan and Lendi Baug at a gentle pace. You return to Mumbai by evening. Senior citizens and families with children especially benefit from this slower plan.
Option C: A 3 day, 2 night trip
This plan adds Shani Shingnapur on Day 2, about 70 km from Shirdi, and a stop at Trimbakeshwar on Day 3 before returning to Mumbai. It turns a Shirdi trip into a three-temple journey and breaks the long drive into comfortable parts.
The places worth your time
Samadhi Mandir: The main shrine, where Sai Baba’s samadhi and marble statue are worshipped. Aartis are held at fixed times through the day.
Dwarkamai: The old mosque where Sai Baba lived for many years. The sacred fire (dhuni), which devotees say has burned since his time, is the centre of the place.
Chavadi: A small building where Baba is said to have slept on alternate nights, and from where a procession is taken out on Thursdays.
Gurusthan: The neem tree place that is regarded as the spot where Baba was first seen as a young boy.
Lendi Baug: A calm garden that Baba used to visit, with a small shrine and the Nandadeep, a lamp that devotees say has burned continuously.
Khandoba Mandir: The old temple where Baba is said to have been welcomed with the words “Aao Sai”.
Shani Shingnapur (Option C): A famous Shani shrine in Newasa taluka, where the deity is a self-formed black stone, worshipped in the open.
Trimbakeshwar (Option C): One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, set near the Brahmagiri hills, close to the origin of the Godavari river. It is about 30 km from Nashik.
Darshan, aarti and the queue
There are several aartis daily: the early morning Kakad aarti, the midday aarti, the evening Dhoop aarti and the night Shej aarti. Timings are fixed by the Sansthan and change with the season and festivals. The Sansthan offers online darshan and aarti pass booking, and the pass shortens waiting in many cases. We help you understand the options for your date. Mobile phones, cameras and large bags are generally not allowed in the darshan area, so plan your belongings accordingly.
Best time to visit Shirdi
October to February is the most comfortable period. Summer is hot, so keep outdoor walking to early morning and evening. The monsoon makes the road green but slower. Thursdays, Guru Purnima, Ram Navami, Vijayadashami and long weekends bring heavy crowds, while a weekday morning is always calmer.
What to eat
Simple vegetarian food is available all around Shirdi, from hot poha and misal in the morning to full thalis at lunch and dinner. Many devotees take lunch or dinner at the Sansthan’s prasadalaya, subject to timings and rules. Tell us your food preference and we will suggest suitable places.
Where to stay
Shirdi has a very wide range of stays, from devotee lodges and dharmashalas to comfortable hotels and resorts. Rooms near the temple fill up quickly on Thursdays and festival days, so book early. Tell us your budget and group size, and we will suggest options.
Practical tips from the road
Start early; the Nashik road and the temple queue take more time than people expect.
Carry photo ID and keep bags light, since large bags may not be allowed.
Wear easy-to-remove footwear and modest clothing.
Use only official counters and the Sansthan’s website for passes and puja items.
For elders, we plan extra rest and keep walking short.
Keep a small amount of cash for lockers, parking and puja items.
Which option should you choose?
For a quick darshan on a free day, choose the 1 day trip. For a calm plan with an overnight stay, choose the 2 day trip. To add Shani Shingnapur and Trimbakeshwar, choose the 3 day tour package. If you cannot decide, tell us your group size, ages and interests, and we will recommend what fits.
