Jejuri is about 50 km from Pune. The drive takes roughly 1.5 hours via Saswad, and much longer on festival days and weekends, depending on traffic
Q2. Can we visit Jejuri and Prati Balaji in one day from Pune?
Yes. If you leave by 6:30 am, you can visit both temples, have lunch at Jejuri and be back in Pune by the afternoon or early evening. For Morgaon, Saswad or Purandar, choose the 2 or 3 day option.
Q3. How many steps are there at Jejuri?
The temple is on a hill and is reached by a long flight of steps, which can be tiring for senior citizens and children. A vehicle road leads close to the top in some parts, and palki or assistance options may be available. We confirm the arrangements for your group before the trip.
Q4. What is the best time to visit Jejuri?
October to February is the most comfortable. The monsoon is green but the steps can be muddy, and summers are hot. Weekday mornings are far better than weekends and festival days.
Q5. Which festivals should we avoid if we want a quiet visit?
Somvati Amavasya, Champa Shashti, Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali holidays and long weekends bring very large crowds. If you want a festival darshan, tell us and we will plan around it
Q6. What are the best places to visit near Jejuri?
Morgaon Mayureshwar, Saswad, Narayanpur and Purandar Fort are the main ones. Pandharpur is also popular but is a longer separate trip.
Q7. What can we eat at Jejuri?
Thalis, misal pav and pithla bhakri are available at local eateries, and bhandara, peda and sweets are sold as prasad. Food is simple, so we plan meals in advance, especially on festival days.

Pune To Jejuri Prati Balaji Trip — Travel Guide

Pune to Jejuri and Prati Balaji Trip: A Practical Guide by Trip Leads

Jejuri is one of the most important temple towns near Pune, and it combines easily with the Prati Balaji temple, Morgaon, Saswad, Purandar and Narayanpur. This guide explains the distance, the route, the main sights, the best season and how to choose between a one, two or three day trip.

How far is Jejuri from Pune? Jejuri is about 50 km from Pune. The drive takes roughly 1.5 hours via Saswad, and much longer on festival days and weekends because of traffic and parking. Start early, ideally before 7:00 am.

Is there a route with both temples? Yes. The Prati Balaji temple and Jejuri are in the same part of Pune district, so most visitors do them on one outing. We confirm the exact location, timings and darshan arrangements of the Prati Balaji temple before your trip, because details can change.

Option A: A 1 day trip A Pune to Jejuri and Prati Balaji one day trip works if you leave by 6:30 am. Visit the Prati Balaji temple, reach Jejuri for darshan before the crowds, have lunch and start back by mid-afternoon. You will be back in Pune in the evening.

Option B: A 2 day, 1 night trip Day 1 covers the Prati Balaji temple and Jejuri, with a night at Jejuri or Saswad. Day 2 adds Morgaon and the return. This Pune to Jejuri 2 days trip is the one I suggest for groups who want an unhurried darshan.

Option C: A 3 day, 2 night trip Day 1 is Prati Balaji and Jejuri. Day 2 is Morgaon and Saswad. Day 3 is Purandar Fort and Narayanpur. It is the complete Jejuri tour package from Pune.

The places worth your time

Khandoba Temple, Jejuri (all options): The main hill temple, reached by a long flight of steps lined with lamp towers, covered in turmeric.
Prati Balaji Temple (all options): A Venkateshwara temple, popular with families who cannot travel to Tirupati.
Jejuri lake and the lamp towers (all options): The lake and old stone lamp pillars below the temple.
Morgaon Mayureshwar (Options B and C): One of the eight Ashtavinayak temples, a short drive from Jejuri.
Saswad: Sangameshwar and Sant Sopandev Samadhi (Option C): Old temples and the samadhi of Sant Sopandev, near the Karha and Chambli rivers.
Narayaneshwar Temple, Narayanpur (Option C): A temple in the village at the base of Purandar Fort.
Purandar Fort (Option C): A large hill fort associated with Maratha history. Check the road and the walk.

About visiting the temples Jejuri is a place of worship, so please follow the rules: no littering, no loud music, no photography where it is not allowed, and modest dress for darshan. The steps are steep and the turmeric can make them slippery, so go slowly with senior citizens and children. Timings, queues and special pooja arrangements are set by the temple trust and can change. We confirm them when your trip is finalised.

What to eat Try thalis, misal pav and pithla bhakri at the local eateries, and take bhandara, peda and sweets as prasad. Along the Saswad road, simple dhabas and tea stalls serve quick meals. Plan your meals, because options are limited on festival days.

Shopping Stalls near the temple sell bhandara packets, brass and copper pooja items, framed pictures, books and small keepsakes. Buy only what you need, and carry your garbage back.

Best time to visit October to February is the most comfortable. The monsoon is green but muddy, and summers are hot. Avoid festival days and long weekends if you want a quiet visit.

Which car for which group? Hatchback or sedan for 1 to 3 people, Ertiga for 4 to 6, Innova Crysta for comfort, Tempo Traveller for 8 to 17, and a mini bus for larger groups. For parking at Jejuri on festival days, we advise smaller vehicles for larger groups where possible.

Where to stay There are lodges, dharamshalas and hotels at Jejuri and Saswad, and resorts along the Saswad and Purandar roads. Rooms fill up on festival dates and weekends, so book early.

Practical tips Start early, carry water and a cap, wear footwear that is easy to remove, keep valuables safe in the crowd, avoid plastic and follow the temple rules.
