Know Before You Go

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. How can we book Shirdi Sai Baba darshan online?
Darshan and Aarti passes can be booked through the official Sai Sansthan website or app, subject to availability and current rules. Photo ID is needed. We guide you on the process when we confirm your trip.
Q2. What are the Shirdi Aarti timings?
Shirdi has four daily Aartis: Kakad (early morning), Madhyahna (noon), Dhoop (evening) and Shej (night). Exact times can change by season and festival, so we confirm the latest schedule when your trip is finalised.
Q3. Which day is best to visit Shirdi to avoid crowds?
Weekdays, especially Tuesday to Wednesday, are usually calmer. Thursdays, weekends and festivals are the busiest. A morning darshan after an overnight stay gives the best chance of a smooth queue.
Q4. Is a Pune to Shirdi one day trip enough for darshan?
Yes, for most devotees on a weekday. You can take darshan and cover Dwarkamai and Chavadi. On busy days, the 2 day plan lets you attend Aarti and take darshan without hurrying.
Q5. What is Dwarkamai in Shirdi and why is it important?
Dwarkamai is the old mosque where Sai Baba lived for many years. The sacred Dhuni, which he kept burning, is still maintained there. It is one of the must-visit places in Shirdi.
Q6. Can we visit Shani Shingnapur from Shirdi in the same trip?
Yes. Shani Shingnapur is about 70 km from Shirdi and is on the Pune route through Ahmednagar. Our 3 day plan includes it on Day 1, so the drive stays comfortable.
Q7. Are mobile phones and bags allowed inside the Shirdi temple?
The Sansthan has security rules on phones, bags and other items, and these can change. Cloakrooms and lockers are usually available. Carry minimal belongings, and we will brief you on the latest rules.

Pune To Shirdi Trip — Travel Guide

Planning a Pune to Shirdi Trip? A Practical Guide for 1, 2 and 3 Days

Shirdi, in Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar) district, is one of the most visited pilgrimage towns in India. Lakhs of devotees come every month, so planning around crowds makes a real difference to how peaceful your darshan feels.

The route and the distance
Shirdi is about 185 to 200 km from Pune, and the drive normally takes four to four and a half hours. The common route goes through Shirur and Ahmednagar, then on towards Shirdi. Leave by 5:00 to 5:30 AM for a smooth day.

Option A: A 1 day trip
You reach by late morning, take darshan, visit Dwarkamai, Chavadi and Gurusthan, have lunch and start back. On Thursdays, weekends and festival days, queues can stretch the day, so choose a weekday.

Option B: A 2 day, 1 night trip
You arrive by afternoon, rest, visit the Dwarkamai area and attend the evening Aarti. Next morning, you take darshan at a calmer time and return to Pune in the afternoon.

Option C: A 3 day, 2 night trip
On Day 1 you stop at Shani Shingnapur before reaching Shirdi. Day 2 is for Shirdi darshan and local sights, and you then drive to Trimbakeshwar. Day 3 is early Jyotirlinga darshan and return.

The places worth your time
Samadhi Mandir: The main shrine with Sai Baba’s samadhi and idol.
Dwarkamai: The old mosque where Sai Baba lived, with the sacred Dhuni.
Chavadi: A small hall where Sai Baba is said to have rested on alternate nights.
Gurusthan: The sacred neem tree spot associated with Sai Baba’s early days.
Lendi Baug: A quiet garden associated with Sai Baba’s daily walks.
Khandoba Mandir: The temple where Sai Baba was first greeted as “Sai”.
Shani Shingnapur: A famous Shani temple, known for open homes without doors, about 70 km from Shirdi.
Trimbakeshwar (Option C): A Jyotirlinga shrine at the source of the Godavari.

Best time to visit Shirdi
October to February is the most comfortable. Thursdays, weekends and festivals are crowded. If you want a calm darshan, choose a weekday outside festival periods.

What to eat
Meals are simple and mostly vegetarian. The Sansthan runs a Prasadalaya for devotees, and the town has restaurants for Maharashtrian thalis, pav bhaji and snacks.

Where to stay
Shirdi has hotels in every range, plus Sansthan devotee accommodation. Rooms fill up quickly on festival days, so book early. Tell us your budget and group size and we will suggest options.

Practical tips from the road
Start early, carry photo ID, keep bags and phones minimal, use official counters only, and check the latest rules before you go.

Which option should you choose?
A for a quick darshan, B for a calm overnight with Aarti, C for the complete circuit.
