Q2. Can we visit Tuljapur and Akkalkot in one day from Pune?
We do not recommend it. The full circuit is roughly 630 to 660 km, which is unsafe and tiring in a single day. The 2 day option is the shortest plan we offer.
Q3. Which is the best option for senior citizens?
Option B or Option C. Both give you evening darshans, a slower pace and fewer rushed mornings. Option C is the most relaxed.
Q4. What are the temple timings at Tuljapur and Akkalkot?
Both temples generally open in the early morning and stay open until late evening or night. Timings, aarti schedules and rules can change on Navratri, Thursdays and festival days, so we confirm them when your trip is finalised.
Q5. What is the best time to visit?
October to February is the most comfortable. Avoid Navratri, Tuesdays, Fridays and Pournima at Tuljapur, and Thursdays at Akkalkot, if you want a calmer darshan.
October to February is the most comfortable. Avoid Navratri, Tuesdays, Fridays and Pournima at Tuljapur, and Thursdays at Akkalkot, if you want a calmer darshan. Q6. What is the best order, Tuljapur first or Akkalkot first?
Tuljapur first is usually easier, because the evening darshan at Tuljapur is followed by Akkalkot at a relaxed pace, and the return from Akkalkot is via Solapur. We can reverse the order if your dates suit it better.
Q7. Where can I buy kunku, photos and pooja items?
The lanes near both temples sell kunku, bangles, small idols, Swami Samarth photos, malas, books and pooja items. Buy from established shops and compare prices before you pay.

Pune To Tuljapur Akkalkot Trip — Travel Guide

Pune to Tuljapur Akkalkot Trip: A Practical Guide by Trip Leads

Tuljapur and Akkalkot are two of the most important pilgrimage destinations in Maharashtra, and they are close enough to be visited together. This guide explains the distance, the route, the places worth your time and how to choose between a two, three or four day trip.

How far is it from Pune?
Tuljapur is about 260 to 280 km from Pune and Akkalkot is about 290 to 310 km. Tuljapur to Akkalkot is about 70 km, which takes roughly one and a half to two hours. The full circuit from Pune and back is roughly 630 to 660 km, so plan for long drive days and start early.

Option A: A 2 day, 1 night trip
Day 1 covers the drive and an evening darshan at Tuljapur. Day 2 covers a morning darshan, the drive to Akkalkot, Swami Samarth darshan and a late return. It is a tight but doable Pune to Tuljapur Akkalkot 2 days trip for fit adults.

Option B: A 3 day, 2 night trip
Day 1 is arrival and darshan at Tuljapur. Day 2 is Naldurg Fort and the drive to Akkalkot. Day 3 is Akkalkot darshan and the return. This is the one I suggest for families.

Option C: A 4 day, 3 night trip
Tuljapur gets two nights, Akkalkot one, and Pandharpur is added on the way back. It is the complete Tuljapur Akkalkot tour package from Pune.

The places worth your time

Tulja Bhavani Temple: One of the three and a half Shakti Peethas of Maharashtra and the kuldevi of many families.
Gomukh Teerth and Kalyan Kund: Sacred water spots in the temple complex where devotees traditionally perform rituals.
Papnash Teerth and Ghatshila: Sacred spots near the town, visited by devotees.
Naldurg Fort: A large fort about 35 km from Tuljapur, known for its massive ramparts and the Upli Buruj.
Vatavriksha Swami Samarth Mandir, Akkalkot: The temple under the banyan tree, linked with Swami Samarth’s stay.
Samadhi Math, Akkalkot: The memorial shrine of Swami Samarth Maharaj.
Annachhatra Mandal: The charitable kitchen where devotees take prasad meals.
Vitthal-Rukmini Temple, Pandharpur (Option C): The main temple of the Warkari tradition.

About darshan at both temples
Lines can be short on weekday mornings and very long on Navratri, Tuesdays, Fridays and Pournima at Tuljapur, and on Thursdays and festival days at Akkalkot. Online or special darshan booking may be available at Tuljapur, so ask us to check it when you book. Dress modestly, and confirm the current rules about phones, bags and footwear. We plan your darshan for the quietest slot possible.

What to eat
Try jwari bhakri with pithla or zunka, sabudana khichdi and shengdana chutney, and take prasad at the Annachhatra in Akkalkot. Meals near both temples are simple and mostly vegetarian.

Shopping
Tuljapur’s lanes sell kunku, bangles, small Bhavani idols and pooja items. Akkalkot’s lanes sell Swami Samarth photos, malas, books and pooja items. Buy from established shops and compare prices before you pay.

Best time to visit
October to February has the most pleasant weather. The monsoon is green but slippery, and summers are hot and dry. Avoid Navratri and other festival days unless they are the purpose of your trip.

Which car for which group?
Hatchback or sedan for 1 to 3 people, Ertiga for 4 to 6, Innova Crysta for comfort on the highway, Tempo Traveller for 8 to 17, and a mini bus for larger groups.

Where to stay
Both towns have dharamshalas, bhakta niwas, lodges and hotels in every budget, many close to the temples. Rooms fill up quickly on Navratri, Thursdays and festival days, so book early.

Practical tips
Start early, carry water and a cap, wear footwear that is easy to remove, keep valuables minimal and follow the temple rules.
