Can you do Ajanta and Ellora in one day from Shirdi?
Not comfortably, and I would not plan it. A one day trip from Shirdi should cover one site, either Ellora or Ajanta. For both, start with a two day plan.
Option A: A 1 day express for one site
Leave Shirdi before dawn. For Ellora, reach by about 9:00 am, spend three to four hours in the caves and start back after lunch. For Ajanta, reach by about 10:00 am, spend three to four hours inside and return by evening.
