Day-wise Itinerary
Day 1: OPTION – 1 DAY TRIP
Day 2: OPTION – 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT
Day 1: Shirdi to Mumbai
5:30 AM: Pickup from Shirdi. If you want morning Sai Baba darshan first, tell us in advance, and we start after darshan with a later arrival.
8:00 AM: Breakfast near Nashik or Igatpuri. Poha, misal pav or paratha with tea is enough.
11:30 AM: Reach Mumbai, check in and have lunch. A short rest is worth it. Arrival depends on traffic at Kasara, Thane and the city entry.
4:00 PM: Siddhivinayak Temple, evening darshan. Dress modestly and follow the temple rules. Keep a buffer, because Tuesdays and Sankashti days have very long queues.
6:00 PM: Marine Drive for the sunset, and a walk along the promenade.
7:30 PM: Chowpatty street food, or dinner at a restaurant, and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gateway of India and Return to Shirdi
8:00 AM: Breakfast and check-out.
9:00 AM: Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Palace hotel outside view and a short walk in Colaba. Weekday mornings are calmer.
11:00 AM: Colaba Causeway shopping, if you wish.
12:30 PM: Lunch. Try an Irani cafe or a Pomfret thali.
1:30 PM: Start the return drive to Shirdi, to cross the Kasara ghat in daylight.
7:30 PM: Expected arrival in Shirdi, depending on traffic.
Note: Mumbai traffic and ghat jams can add hours. We confirm the plan before booking.

7:30 AM: Breakfast.
8:30 AM: Siddhivinayak Temple, in the morning for shorter queues. Avoid Tuesdays if you can.

12:30 PM: Lunch.
1:30 PM: Drive over the Bandra Worli Sea Link, or view it from the Bandra side. A short photo stop.
2:30 PM: Gateway of India and the ferry jetty. Take the ferry to the Elephanta Caves, if running. The ferry ride takes about one hour each way, and the caves need about one and a half hours.

5:00 PM: Juhu Beach and the ISKCON Temple.
7:30 PM: Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Elephanta, Fort Area and Nashik
7:30 AM: Breakfast and check-out. Keep your luggage in the cab.
8:30 AM: Gateway of India. Take the ferry to the Elephanta Caves, if running. The caves are closed one day a week, so we check it in advance. If the ferry is not running, we replace it with the Fort area and a museum.

2:00 PM: CSMT and the Fort area, an outside look at the Gothic buildings, and a photo stop.
3:00 PM: Start the drive to Nashik, roughly four and a half to five and a half hours. Evening traffic out of Mumbai is heavy, so we plan the exit carefully.

7:30 AM: Breakfast and check-out.

Know Before You Go
- Carry a valid government photo ID (Aadhaar/PAN/Passport/DL) for every traveller — hotels and some checkpoints ask for it.
- Pack according to Maharashtra's season — check the local weather a few days before departure and pack accordingly.
- Keep your booking voucher and driver/vehicle details handy (sent by Tripleads after confirmation).
- Please be ready at the pickup point 10–15 minutes before the scheduled time to keep the itinerary on track.
- Carry some cash for personal expenses, tips and anything not covered under Inclusions — card/UPI acceptance can be patchy in remote areas.
- Mobile network can be weak in ghats, valleys and remote stretches of the route — inform family of your rough schedule in advance.
- This is a pilgrimage route — dress modestly at temples, and expect queues during festival dates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How far is Mumbai from Shirdi by road?
Mumbai is roughly 250 to 290 km from Shirdi. The drive takes about five to six and a half hours via Nashik and Igatpuri, depending on the route, ghat traffic and city traffic.
Q2. Can we visit Mumbai in one day from Shirdi?
We do not recommend it. A same-day round trip means 10 to 12 hours of driving for very little time in the city. The 2 day option is the shortest plan we offer
Q3. Can we take Sai Baba darshan before leaving Shirdi?
Yes, if you tell us in advance. We start after your darshan, and the arrival in Mumbai shifts later. Queue and pass rules are managed by the Shirdi temple trust, so please check the current process.
Q4. Do we need to book Siddhivinayak darshan?
Online booking may be available for some darshan types, and queues are very long on Tuesdays and Sankashti Chaturthi. We help you check the current process and choose a quieter day. Special darshan charges are not included in the package.
Q5. Is the Elephanta ferry running
The ferry usually runs in the dry season and stops in the monsoon because of the rough sea. The caves are normally closed one day a week. We confirm the current status before your trip. Ferry and entry tickets are not included in the package.
Q6. What is the best time to visit Mumbai?
October to February is the most comfortable. The monsoon is wet, and summers are hot and humid. Avoid Diwali, Christmas, New Year and long weekends if you want a quiet visit.
Q7. Which is the best option for senior citizens?
Option B. It gives a full city day with a slower pace. Mumbai involves a lot of time in the car and some walking, so please tell us if anyone needs a wheelchair or has trouble with steps, and we will choose the stops accordingly.

Shirdi To Mumbai Trip — Travel Guide
Shirdi to Mumbai Trip: A Practical Guide by Trip Leads
Mumbai is one of the easiest big-city trips from Shirdi, and it fits well after a Sai Baba darshan. This guide explains the distance, the route, the places worth your time and how to choose between a two, three or four day trip.
How far is Mumbai from Shirdi?
Mumbai is roughly 250 to 290 km from Shirdi, depending on the route and the part of Mumbai you are going to. The drive takes about five to six and a half hours. Traffic at Kasara ghat, Thane and the city entry points can add a lot of time, especially on weekends and holiday dates, so start early.
Which road do we take?
We usually go via Nashik, Igatpuri and the Kasara ghat to Thane and Mumbai, or use the Samruddhi Expressway for part of the way when it saves time. We check the current road condition, tolls and ghat traffic with our drivers before your trip.
Option A: A 2 day, 1 night trip
Day 1 covers the drive, Siddhivinayak and Marine Drive at sunset. Day 2 covers Gateway of India, Colaba and the return.
Option B: A 3 day, 2 night trip
Day 1 is the drive and an evening at Marine Drive. Day 2 is Siddhivinayak, Mahalaxmi, Haji Ali, the Sea Link and the Elephanta Caves. Day 3 is Juhu and the return. This is the one I suggest for most groups.
Option C: A 4 day, 3 night trip
Two nights in Mumbai and one in Nashik, with Kanheri Caves, the Fort area and Bandra, and Panchavati and Pandavleni on the way back. It is the complete Mumbai tour package from Shirdi.
The places worth your time
Siddhivinayak Temple, Prabhadevi: A famous Ganesh temple, very crowded on Tuesdays and Sankashti Chaturthi. Online darshan booking may be available.
Mahalaxmi Temple: A temple of the goddess Mahalaxmi near the sea, especially crowded during Navratri.
Haji Ali Dargah: A mosque and tomb on an islet in the sea, reached by a causeway that can be covered at high tide. Check tide timings.
Bandra Worli Sea Link: A long cable-stayed bridge, best seen from the road or the Bandra side at dusk.
Marine Drive and Chowpatty: A curved seafront promenade, best at sunset, with street food at Chowpatty.
Gateway of India and Colaba: The harbour monument, the Taj Mahal Palace hotel and the Colaba Causeway market.
Elephanta Caves (Options B and C): Ancient rock-cut Shiva caves on an island, reached by a ferry from the Gateway of India. Check the ferry season and the weekly closed day.
CSMT and the Fort area (Option C): Victorian Gothic buildings, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Bombay High Court and the Rajabai Clock Tower.
Kanheri Caves, Sanjay Gandhi National Park (Option C): A large group of Buddhist rock-cut caves in a forest park. Check entry rules and timings.
Bandra and Mount Mary Church (Option C): The Bandra promenade, Bandstand and a hilltop church.
Juhu Beach and ISKCON Temple: A long beach with street food, and a large Krishna temple nearby.
Panchavati, Kalaram Mandir and Pandavleni Caves, Nashik (Option C): The Ram temple area on the Godavari and ancient Buddhist caves on a hill.
About temple darshan in Mumbai
Siddhivinayak and Mahalaxmi both get long queues on specific days. Dress modestly, and confirm the current rules about phones, bags and footwear. We plan your darshan for the quietest slot possible. If you want a special or online darshan, tell us in advance.
About the Elephanta ferry
The ferry runs from the Gateway of India, and normally stops in the monsoon months because of the rough sea. The caves are usually closed one day a week. Photo ID is needed for tickets. We confirm the current ferry timings, fares and the closed day before your trip.
Mumbai traffic
Mumbai traffic is heaviest from about 8:30 to 11:30 in the morning and from 5:30 to 9:30 in the evening on weekdays. We plan the route to avoid these hours where possible. We also advise starting the drive back to Shirdi by early afternoon, so that you cross the Kasara ghat in daylight.
What to eat
Try vada pav, misal pav, pav bhaji and bhel at Chowpatty, bun maska and chai in an Irani cafe, and Pomfret or Bombil fry if you eat non-vegetarian. Choose busy stalls and drink bottled water.
Shopping
Colaba Causeway, Fashion Street and Crawford Market are the classic shopping places. Bargain politely and compare prices before you buy.
Best time to visit
October to February is the most comfortable. The monsoon is wet, and the Elephanta ferry stops. Summers are hot and humid. Avoid Diwali, Christmas, New Year and long weekends if you want a quiet visit.
Which car for which group?
Hatchback or sedan for 1 to 3 people, Ertiga for 4 to 6, Innova Crysta for comfort on the highway, Tempo Traveller for 8 to 17, and a mini bus for larger groups. For a narrow lane like Colaba, a smaller car is easier.
Where to stay
Mumbai has hotels at every budget, though rooms are small and expensive. Colaba and Marine Drive are good for sightseeing, and Dadar, Juhu and Andheri are good for temple visits and easy road access. Rooms fill up quickly on weekends and holiday dates, so book early.
Practical tips
Start early, carry water and a cap, keep valuables safe in crowded places, keep your photo ID handy, follow the temple rules and avoid peak traffic hours.
